Book #15A: Sideways Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar
I’m going to consider the three Wayside School books as one book for this year because they really and truly written for children, not young adults or adult-adults. I must admit, I read and adored these books as a kid, and re-reading them now I realize that my opinion of the book has not changed, but also that this was one of my favorites MAKES SO MUCH SENSE. This book is bizarre and very Dada; for example, there is no 19th floor, only the 18th and 20th floors. One poor student is tasked with delivering a note to the teacher on the 19th floor, but there is no 19th floor, nor any teacher on the 19th floor, obviously. You’ll finish this book in one sitting, but it really is a fun read.
